We’re pleased to announce an upgrade to the SmartPBX system designed to improve reliability, performance, and long-term capabilities.
As part of this upgrade, the way you send faxes by email (email-to-fax) is changing. The way you receive faxes to your email (fax-to-email) will remain exactly the same—no action needed for incoming faxes.
To send a fax by email:
Open your email client (e.g., Outlook, Gmail).
Compose a new email.
In the To field, enter:faxnumber@fax.smartpbx.io
Replace faxnumber
with the 10-digit destination fax number.
Example: To send to 416-555-1234, address it to:
4165551234@fax.smartpbx.io
Attach the document you want to fax (PDF or TIFF format preferred).
Leave the subject and body blank (optional – they will not be faxed) Remove any images in your signature as well, as they can be detected as attachments.
Click Send.
That’s it—your document will be converted and sent as a fax.
We’ve also launched a new SmartPBX Web Fax Portal where users can:
Send faxes directly from their browser
View fax send history and delivery status
Download fax confirmations and logs
⚠️ Not all users have access to the Web Fax Portal by default.
If you would like portal access for yourself or others, please contact us at [support@smartpbx.io] with the list of email addresses to enable.
Note: Web portal access is not required to continue using SmartPBX’s fax services. You can still send and receive faxes using your email as described above.
