Troubleshooting Audio on the Desktop SoftphoneExperiencing audio issues on your Desktop Softphone can hinder your ability to communicate effectively. Follow these detailed steps to ensure your audio settings are correctly configured.
Accessing Audio Settings
- Open Audio Configuration:
- Launch your Desktop Softphone application.
- Navigate to the Options menu. This is the 3 lines and a dot at the bottom-left of the window.
- Navigate to Audio Settings:
- Within the Options menu, select Settings to open the configuration panel.
- Modify Audio Settings:
- Click on the Audio tab to access audio settings. This section allows you to configure your microphone and speakers.
- Configure Audio Devices:
- Microphone Selection:
- Locate the dropdown menu for the Record Device (4).
- Select the desired input device for your microphone. This is where you choose which microphone Softphone uses for capturing your voice.
- Speaker Settings:
- Under the same Audio tab, you’ll find two separate dropdown menus for speakers:
- Playback Device: Choose the output device that will play the audio during a call (5).
- Ring Device: Select the device that you want to use for ringing alerts when an incoming call is detected (6).
- Save Your Settings:
- After selecting your devices, ensure to click Save at the bottom of the settings panel to apply your changes.
Testing Your Audio Setup
After configuring your devices, it's crucial to test the audio:
- Perform an Echo Test Call: Dial *9195 to reach the echo test service to test your setup. Use this feature to ensure your microphone and speakers are set up correctly.
- Adjust Volume Levels: Make any necessary adjustments to the microphone and speaker volumes to optimize audio quality.

- Update Audio Drivers: Ensure that your audio devices' drivers are up-to-date to maintain compatibility and performance.
- Check Default Device Settings: Verify that the correct devices are set as defaults in your operating system’s sound settings.
- Avoid Conflicts: Close any applications that may be using your audio devices before starting the softphone.
